Gas Installation and Gas Fire Servicing

Why Gas Safe Matters

When you have a gas fire in your home, safety begins with correct installation and regular servicing. Gas Safe is the official registration body for gas engineers in the UK. Only a Gas Safe registered engineer is legally allowed to work on gas appliances. This protects you from unsafe work and gives you confidence that your fire is operating as it should.

Our Gas Safe Service

We are qualified Gas Safe registered engineers who specialise in gas fires. This means your appliance is checked by a professional who understands the specific requirements of gas fireplaces and flue systems.

The cost of our standard annual gas service is £120. A service includes:
• A full safety inspection of the gas fire and its components
• Testing for leaks
• Checking the ignition, burners and flame picture
• Cleaning internal parts
• Ensuring the flue or chimney is drawing correctly
• Confirming the appliance is safe and working efficiently
• Replacing all batteries, if required, in the unit and remote

How Often Should a Gas Fire Be Serviced

Gas fires should be serviced every year. This keeps your appliance safe and can ensures performance and efficiency. Regular servicing helps prevent issues that can lead to costly repairs later.

If you notice any of the following, you should book a service immediately:
• Sooting or staining on or around the fire
• A change in flame colour
• A smell of gas
• Difficulty igniting the fire
• The fire turning off on its own

Protecting Your Warranty

Most manufacturers require annual servicing by a Gas Safe registered engineer to keep your warranty valid. Keeping your service record up to date ensures you stay covered.

Book a Gas Fire Service

We make the process simple. Tell us the make and model of your fire and we will arrange your Gas service at a time that suits you. Our engineers are experienced with both modern and traditional gas fires.

Safety

During every service our Gas Safe engineer checks the full appliance, the flue and all safety functions. If a fault is found that makes the appliance unsafe to use, we are required by law to cap the gas supply to the device and declare it unsafe. This protects you and your property and ensures the appliance cannot be used until it is repaired or replaced. The cost is £100 for the first hour and £85 for each hour or part of an hour after that.

Repairs and diagnostics

If your gas fire is not working as expected, we can arrange diagnostics, repairs or replacement. If your fire is not working as expected, this is charged at £150 for the first 90 minutes and £85 every hour or part of thereafter. If the fire can be repaired within this time the engineer will complete the work during the visit. If it cannot be repaired on the day, any further visits and any parts or components needed will be charged separately.
